Welldown Cottage is a pretty semi-detached period cottage set in a lovely, quiet rural spot near Goodwood, just a few miles north of the cathedral city of Chichester. The property offers cosy yet modern accommodation set against the back drop of the Sussex countryside. On the ground floor there is a modern kitchen, bathroom and sitting room with open fireplace (logs are provided by the owners) and a dining area. Upstairs, ther are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with tin single beds. Both bedrooms offer views over the open countryside that surroungs the cottage. There is a very pleasant garden outside with plenty of parking and there is also a cycle store. This cottage is ideal for either peaceful weekend breaks or for longer family stays and makes an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding area.
The downland hamlet of Chilgrove lies just a few miles to the north of Chichester and is only a short drive from Goodwood. It has a well known restaurant called The Fish House Restaurant and is surrounded by beautiful downland countryside. Just opposite the cottage is a footpath leading across the downs and the surrounding area is absolutely ideal for cycling enthusiasts. There is a footpath near the cottage which will take you to the beautiful Kingley Vale Nature Reserve.The cottage has a cycle store provided in addition to the spacious garden. There is a huge variety of things to do in the area - Chichester is a beautiful city with a thriving shopping centre, hictoric cathedral and internationally famous Festival Theatre. Some of the best beaches in Southern England can be enjoyed within a twenty five minute drive and the many events at Goodwood are within a ten minute drive. There is also the famous Weald and Downland Open Air Museum in Singleton just a few miles away, which offers a great day out for the family. Polo is played at Cowdray near Midhurst, about ten miles away, and there are many excellent golf courses in the area. If you are a sailing enthusiast the villages of Bosham, Chidham and Itchenor will appeal and they are all within 1/2 hour's drive and there is excellent wind surfing at West Wittering beach. There is good road access to both Petersfield (with mainline station to London Waterloo) and London.
